Transport Winter Maintenance Tips

Wintertime can wreak havoc on your truck or fleet. What can you do to keep everything running smoothly? Check out some of our winter maintenance tips!

Spark Plugs: While most spark plugs are rated for hundreds of thousands of kilometers, it's still a good idea to replace them annually. The fresher the spark plug, the hotter the spark, making it easier for your engine to start!

Batteries: Your battery needs to be tested on a regular basis. If you notice it's not holding a charge, then replace it as soon as possible. Also, any battery over three years old should just be replaced outright. Better safe than stuck on the side of the highway.

Stay Fueled: Water vapor in your tank can condense and freeze in your vehicle's pickup tube, which makes it impossible for fuel to get to the engine. While fuel de-icers are an option, it's just as easy to make sure your vehicle stays fueled up so you can avoid trouble.

Top Up: When it comes to fluids in your vehicle, we recommend following the same advice as your fuel: Keep everything topped up. Brake, antifreeze, and power steering fluids are all essential to your vehicle running properly. Make sure they're full.

Vision: Pay attention to your windshield wipers. While this seems like an easy fix, we've seen too many examples of wipers being used far beyond their usefulness. Keep them fresh so you can see clearly and get your load to its destination safely!
